LOST/POI Crossover: how does this not exist?

mr-finch: what if
Finch/Ben drops off the grid
but he's been training Sayid just as much as Reese
so Sayid steps in to take his place
shawarma-palace: and the Machine gets them together to solve the problem

and Elias sends out Richard
and then Reese meets Sayid as this boss figure
but both don't know that they're actualy working for the same guy
and that's what the episode's about
coming to realize that

Things I do not get

Can someone explain to me why in the sudden explosion of werewolf fic EVERYWHERE for every fandom, there’s all this hubris about ‘Alpha’ and ‘Omega’ status?

And why, because wolf packs don’t work like this, is everyone one or the other, mostly a jillion omegas. Guys the Omega is the ONE lowest member in context to a particular pack. If a wolf isn’t IN a pack, he’s not an omega. If a pack is formed, there is ONE omega.

There is usually an Alpha pair which would be the only pair to mate and produce offspring. There is also often a Beta who works as a second in command and deals with more minor problems in the pack social structure. The middle of the pack (between 1 and 30 animals depending on individual pack) is made up of ‘unranked’ animals usually younger wolves, pups, and females. When a wolf matures enough to want to mate, he will usually disperse from the pack to find his own territory. He may take an unranked female with him or not, depending.

The Omega, as I’ve stated before is the single lowest status wolf, in the context of that pack. This isn’t something a wolf is born with but that is tested out in social interaction, play, dominance struggles, etc. The status is usually then reinforced. The omega eats last, is often the target of surplus aggression, and is usually the instigator of play. But there’s only one. You can’t have a ‘pack full of omegas and one alpha’ because seriously they would suss it all out between themselves to form a new social ladder with ONE omega. It would probably be a tetchy process with a lot of scuffles and mouthing and minor fights.

Unless all these werewolf aus are based on some random canon for something that I don’t know about and somehow missed, which I’d like to know actually so I can stop being so damn confused by all this basically jibberish. I mean if you know anything about wolves, it really does put you off of reading the fic. It’s like ‘do some research what the hell’.

I like how they make an avengers porn parody and Tony’s the one who doesn’t get laid. how I mean just. ‘okay man wear this ridiculous costume, voice three lines, stand around, and then get punched off camera’ and if you’re a porn star you just let that happen?

Let’s imagine the casting calls for this monstrosity anyway: ‘Wanted, women who aren’t afraid to dress up in ridiculous internet costumes with the crotch cut out and have sex with men in ridiculous internet costumes equally with the crotch cut out. Also one large woman to be painted green.” (They got Chyna as she hulk. dear god why no why.)

Anyway Chunkeye liked the sausage to biscuit ratio of the team and that’s about the point my brain shut off and made inarticulate noises of horror.

Argh I should study Rome first b/c Rome is relevant to Cairne but I’m now so interested in Greece because I know so little about it it’s like ‘OH THIS IS ALL NEW HOW INTERESTING’ and then it’s like….

No I could study color theory or write Nassau or blah blah blah.

Okay I need to like buckle down and pick one thing, or I’ll never get any of them done. Man! And I have to work on my intro for Hetherev, and I should do a zillion other things.

I’m loving this book. Although I was tired yesterday and had to reread each paragraph about five times before any of it sank in (I wish that was an exaggeration, it is not).

I think I’ll actually have more fun fitting characters into history than writing any kind of fantasy or mythology. There…

LOOK LOOK LOOK what I got today oh my gosh. And it is totally way more interesting to try and work a character into history, because you get to learn all these deeper more interesting things about x or y period of time.

I picked up a book that mentioned that during the first sack of Rome, the money to bribe the Gauls to leave came from Masslia - apparently when they were under siege by the Gauls, they purchased their way out as well. That’s kind of interesting and might be part of the whole reason why there would be contempt for Marmareon if he ventured too far outside of the ‘safe’ territory of Massalia and it’s surroundings. Also apparently the Phoceans built their trading post on top of an existing Phonecian one, after throwing them out and there was lingering resentment. I don’t own the book I read that in, but it was ‘The History of the Ancient World: From the Earliest Accounts to the Fall of Rome’, by Susan Wise Bauer.
